Shellty Kids®
What is Shellty® fabric?
Shellty® fabric is an innovative technical textile, developed by Portuguese scientists and patented worldwide. Produced from high-quality polyester, it incorporates a functional membrane that gives it water-repellent, antimicrobial, and breathable properties.
This technology creates an effective barrier against liquids, protecting the mattress without compromising comfort. Soft to the touch and comfortable against the skin, it allows air circulation and helps maintain a drier and more hygienic resting environment.
Shellty® is entirely developed and produced in Portugal, ensuring high standards of quality and innovation.
What are the main differences between a traditional bedsheet and Shellty Kids®?
A traditional cotton sheet absorbs liquids and does not protect the mattress, which can lead to frequent bedding changes and more time-consuming cleaning.
Shellty Kids®, on the other hand, acts as a protective barrier that repels liquids, helping to keep the mattress dry and clean. This means fewer changes during the night and a simpler routine for parents.
Furthermore, it is breathable, soft to the touch, and comfortable, ensuring more peaceful nights and greater mattress protection.
What are the benefits of using Shellty Kids®?
Shellty Kids® offers the comfort of a clean and sanitised bed. Soft to the touch, easy to fit, and with antimicrobial properties, it helps create a safer and more comfortable sleeping environment for children.
Thanks to its hydrophobic and waterproof characteristics, it repels liquids and prevents them from being absorbed by the mattress, keeping the bed dry and protected. This makes cleaning easier and reduces frequent linen changes, simplifying the routine for parents.
Does Shellty Kids® have any contraindications?
Shellty Kids® has no known contraindications when used according to the recommended instructions.
The fabric was developed and tested to be safe for direct contact with the skin, including sensitive skin. Tests have proven its biocompatibility, ensuring it will not cause irritation or aggravate any existing skin lesions.
Furthermore, it is free of harmful substances, making it safe for children to use.
Does the Shellty Kids® fit any mattress?
Shellty Kids® was developed to adapt to mattresses of specific sizes, ensuring a proper fit and greater protection effectiveness.
It is available in various sizes designed to accompany the different growth stages of children:
Newborn – 50 × 83 cm
Baby – 60 × 120 cm
Grow – 70 × 160 cm
Teen – 80 × 190 cm
It is recommended to choose the size that matches the mattress dimensions.
How should I wash the Shellty Kids®?
Shellty Kids® can be machine washed on a Delicates or Synthetics cycle at 30ºC to 40ºC, with moderate spin.
We recommend using a mild liquid or enzymatic detergent, and, whenever possible, an extra rinse to remove residues.
Do not use fabric softener, bleach, chlorine or powder detergent, as these products may compromise the fabric's performance.
How should I dry Shellty Kids®?
Shellty Kids® can be tumble dried at a moderate temperature, around 60 ºC, until completely dry. It is recommended to place the sheet with the membrane facing inwards during drying.
Alternatively, you can air dry it in a cool, shady place, avoiding direct sunlight.
Make sure the sheet is completely dry before reusing or storing it.
How to care for Shellty Kids®?
To maintain the performance and durability of Shellty Kids®, it is recommended to follow the washing instructions provided and avoid products such as fabric softener, bleach, chlorine or powdered detergent.
In case of small spills, first remove the excess with a dry cloth and, if necessary, use a slightly damp cloth to clean the affected area. Let it dry completely before using again.
For tough stains, apply an oxygen-based stain remover only to the affected area or use Nexus Enzym LRE-60 by Mistolin PRO | Shellty® Recommendation, testing first on an inconspicuous area.
How to remove stains from Shellty Kids®?
In case of spills of liquids such as sweat, urine, water or food, you should act immediately. First, remove the excess with a dry cloth. Then, wipe the affected area with a damp cloth to remove any residue and finish by drying again with a dry cloth.
For more stubborn stains, we recommend applying Nexus Enzym LRE-60 by Mistolin PRO | Shellty® Recommendation locally, following the manufacturer's instructions and testing beforehand in an inconspicuous area.
After treatment, rinse if necessary and allow to dry completely.
It is essential to ensure that the sheet remains on the bed only when it is visibly clean and completely dry.
What shouldn't I do with my Shellty®?
To preserve the performance and durability of your Shellty®, avoid using fabric softener, bleach, active chlorine, or powder detergent.
Do not use excessive washing or spinning temperatures, and never iron the membrane side.
Also, avoid leaving the sheet on the bed when it is not visibly clean or completely dry.
